Bitung City is one city in North Sulawesi province. The city has a rapid development since there are ocean ports and speed up development.
According to historical stories, Bitung name is taken from the name of a tree that grows in many areas north of the island of Sulawesi. Resident who first gave the name of Bitung is Dotu Hermanus Sompotan which in local language called Tundu'an or leader. Hermanus Dotu Sompotan not alone but at the time he came along with Dotu Rotti, Dotu Wullur, Dotu Ganda, Dotu Katuuk, Dotu Lengkong. Understanding Dotu said the elder is a person or can also be referred to as the degree of leadership at the time, just as the use of the word for people Datuk Sumatra islands.
They are all known as 6 Dotu Tumani Bitung, they opened and worked on these areas in order to become a decent area to live in, they all originated from Minahasa tribe, ethnic Tonsea. The tomb and the Inscription of Hermanus Dotu Sompotan can we meet in the center city of Bitung, which is part of the heritage city of Bitung establishment that can not be forgotten of all time. Hand in hand, now the children and many descendants live in an area called Copper Aer.
The new beach area was attracting a lot of people to come and stay settled so that over time the population began to grow Bitung. Before becoming a city, Bitung is a village led by Arklaus Sompotan as the Old Law (headman) first Bitung village and led for more than 25 years, which at the time of Bitung village is included in the District Kauditan. Sompotan own Arklaus Karegesan Minawerot buried in the village, District Kauditan.
Hand in hand with the development of Bitung as a strategic area and growing population with rapidly then in the 70s made the City of Bitung who later was appointed the first Mayor of Wempie Worang Which is the younger brother of Governor H. V. Worang.
Bitung has a Mount Two Sudara located on the outskirts of the city of Bitung. And also Bitung has Lembeh Island which is one of the largest island in North Sulawesi is a property of Xavier Dotu Dotulong, which in its development can be used as a natural wave barrier that protects the port of Bitung throughout the year from the wind and big waves.
Bitung City has 16 attractions, both coastal tourism, forest tourism and historical tourism. Some of the famous sights such as the Red Cape beaches, forests Danowudu, bay and park confines of Sea Stone Vessel
